About Us
With almost three centuries of ministry in the Manhasset area, Community Reformed Church is one of Long Island's cornerstone congregations. We are also a congregation of the Reformed Church in America, the oldest protestant denomination in the Americas.
Do not let our history fool you though, when you join us for worship or Bible Study, it is not about merely "doing what we have always done," it is about walking alongside generations of women, men, and children on a centuries-old pilgrimage of profound spiritual growth and discovery. At Community Reformed Church we do not create "cookie-cutter Christians" who all think and act the same; we strive to develop and equip disciples who are striving to increasingly love as God loves and live as Jesus lived.
Our congregation, like all congregations in the RCA, is led by a "Consistory" - a governing board consisting of Elders, Deacons, and a Minister of Word and Sacrament. Each office has unique roles and responsibilities. Elders, primarily focus on the spiritual care and oversight of the Congregation, Deacons primarily facilitate and coordinate the congregation's outreach and ministry, and the Minister equips, teaches, and leads the members of the Consistory and the congregation as they seek to grow in their faith and "minister to the total life of all people by preaching, teaching, and proclamation of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, and by all Christian good works." (Preamble to the RCA's Book of Church Order)
